Anthropology/Study of Humans
Img29.png

Anthropology, or the study of human beings, reveals much about how God created humans and what He created us for.  Human beings are dichotomous, meaning we are both physical and spiritual. We are not trichotomous (body, soul, and spirit).  Whenever the Bible talks about our nature, it is always body and soul, or body and spirit, where spirit and soul are used interchangeably (1 Cor. 5:5).  Humans are created in God’s image, image Dei, to serve, glorify, and live in a relationship with Him.  Intellectually, humans are self-aware, including the awareness of our sinfulness.  Our conscience is what produces our moral makeup and is there to guide us; however, without the aid of the Spirit and other aides, what we have is inadequate due to humans’ sinful nature.  Humans are both relational and emotional in the way they interact with others and their God.  Volitionally, we also are free to choose how we want to live our lives on a day-to-day basis, although God always has control.
